This illustration was created for Glug Magazine’s special edition on Bulgarian wines from the Thracian Valley. Drawing from the region’s rich winemaking heritage, the piece celebrates the traditional practice of grape stomping and the iconic horo folk dance. Dressed in embroidered national costumes, the figures embody the vibrant spirit and cultural pride that continues to shape Bulgaria’s winemaking legacy.
With rolling vineyards in the background and baskets overflowing with grapes, the scene captures a moment of joyful ritual—where tradition, community, and harvest come together in celebration. The artwork aims to visually connect the ancient roots of Thracian viticulture with the living culture that still thrives today.
Additionally, I’ve emphasized green, lively surroundings to reflect the revitalization and flourishing of urban spaces around these rivers.
